Some shows are happy and fluffy and bright, with laughing and ponies for everyone.
Some shows are just plain evil, killing off beloved characters and ripping them away from us for all time. Heck, The Walking Dead has practically been making a sport of it lately. You'll also discover a duo long dead on Supernatural we still can't get over, as well as a female archer (or two) who should rise up and take aim once more.
But you know what? Just because someone made the decision to kill off characters we love doesn't mean we have to stand around and take it. We've done that for far too long and it's time we did something about it.
And do something we shall! Flip around our slideshow and discover which characters we think were taken too soon, and whose return from the dead we are demanding. Immediately.
Whether you loved Beth or hated her, you've got to admit her death made zero sense. There was so much story left to tell with that little blonde fighter, and the consensus seems to be that she was killed for shock value. We never even got to see her reunite with Daryl, and that's a crying shame. We demand a resurrection! And not one of the zombie variety please...
In a world of body jumping witches, ritualistic werewolves, and vampire hybrids, bringing Kol back from the dead should be a piece of cake! Just ask The Vampire Diaries, they bring characters back to life practically every week. Kol is a fan favorite, not to mention an Original, and he deserves to be a regular fixture on the show. But the real questions is... which Kol do you want back? Nathaniel Buzolic or Daniel Sharman?
These two get a tandem slide because whyyyyyy did they have to die? Why did we ever lose this perfect couple? Lexie died in the Season 8 finale, after finally hearing Mark's declaration of love for her. As if that wasn't enough, Mark then kicked the bucket right away in the Season 9 premiere. It was a one-two punch that we’ll never recover from. Medical miracles happen every day, right? Maybe they're both just... sleeping?
Sara’s death opened the third season of Arrow with a BANG, and the revelation that Thea killed her was an even bigger shocker. Unfortunately, now that Laurel has taken over as Black Canary, there doesn't seem to be much room for Sara on Arrow. But could she be heading back to us via the newest Arrow spinoff with The Atom? Her actress has been cast, we just have to wait and see as who!
This is another death that didn’t make a whole lot of sense and probably should be reversed. There was something about Rumple being locked inside Neal’s body, or vice versa, but the result was the same. Neal died, and Storybrooke was left feeling a little empty. Henry barely got to know his father, and that's just not cool! Maleficent came back from the dead recently, so maybe Neal can return to us too?
Commonly known as the WORST series finale of all time, How I Met Your Mother mercilessly killed off the character we’d all waited nine seasons to meet. And she was awesome. The show should have been called "How I Wasted 9 Years Dating Every Woman In New York, When I Could Have Been Living Happily Ever After." At least Tracy got her second chance when the DVD box set was released with an alternate ending where she lived.
Just when we were really starting to love Daniel again, his life was cut short. He died nobly, protecting Emily from the fake FBI agent, Kate Taylor, and earning a little bit of redemption in the process. That doesn't mean this shocking death was an easier to swallow though. No matter how many juicy secrets his death created, we’d give them all back for one more precious moment with Daniel Grayson.
This death was the result of an actress who wanted to pursue other areas, and I can’t really blame her for wanting to leave the teen stuff behind. But the pain of losing Allison was just TOO MUCH. Not only was she Scott's first love (and ours) she was Lydia's best friend! The heart of the show in a lot of ways. Poor Scott. Poor Lydia. Poor everyone!
Who didn’t love Jo and Ellen and their turbulent bond with the Winchesters? Whether they were providing leads or helping hunt down the devil, these ladies were the definition of badass, and we want them back STAT. Sure, it's been a few years (5 and counting...) but these ladies are timeless! The Winchesters die all the time, why can’t Jo & Ellen get some angel assistance?
We’ll be the first to admit that Katherine had a bad run in Season 5. She was... how do we put this delicately... annoying as hell. We were almost eager to see her go by the end there, which might have been the plan all along come to think of it. But who doesn’t love this bad little vampire and her tendency to show up when least expected? It could be a flashback, a hallucination, whatever. Maybe even a cameo on The Originals! We're not picky.
The car crash heard round the world rocked the proper little family of Downton Abbey to its core. Matthew barely got to hold his newborn son once before he was killed off, and we’d give anything to have him back. If only to keep Lady Mary off the merry-go-round of love interests she's been on lately. There was that cousin that came back from supposedly dying on the Titanic a few years ago, maybe Matthew has just been wandering around Canada all this time?
The scandalous real life of the actor behind the character of Harrison Wright kept our favorite gladiator from returning for the show's third season, but was killing him really necessary? He was our first look into Olivia Pope's crazy life, and it just doesn't feel right without him. Oh Harrison, we truly miss you. Hopefully one day we'll find out that his whole death was faked or something.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's been dead forever and it needed to happen to drive the story forward, yada yada yada. But it still hurts, you know? And who says Ned can't ever return? Dragons were supposed to be extinct too, but that didn't stop them from staging a comeback. Ned Stark was the only character on the show who probably didn't deserve a beheading, and with so few Starks left, we just kind of want the patriarch back!
