On Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 3 Scott does something for the first time that will forever change him.
Relationships are tested, as is Malia in her studies. A family murdering ax murderer is on the loose and Melissa and Stilinski decide the kids should be kids for the day.
Lacrosse practice reveals that all positions are open, including team captain. Scott becomes incredibly competitive when he realizes what is at stake.
How many bodies will be found? You won't believe it.
Find out all of the details when you watch Teen Wolf online!
That's just one of the many exciting developments brought to us in Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 4, which felt like a return to what the series does best -- action and suspense with a very amusing undertone.
Considering the very heavy Teen Wolf Season 3 and all the death and destruction in its wake, it's a relief to get back to the heart of the characters. They're teenagers and they're supernatural, they say and do some very wise things, but more often than not it's after a trial and error of many stupid things.
That's not saying teens have the lead on that behavior, but when they're dealing with nemetons and nogitsune, it can be hard to remember they're just kids. And you know what? I love these frakkin' kids.
Dylan O'Brien has been delivering his A-Game as Stiles and I'm really enjoying how Tyler Posey, the True Alpha Scott McCall, lets go of the reins a little bit allowing both O'Brien and Stiles some room to play around. Even when you'd think an Alpha would have all the information at hand, Scott lets Stiles drive, allowing him to handle some of the dirty work. It doesn't always work out fabulously.
Stiles: OK Liam. Now, you've seen a lot of confusing things tonight and more confusing things are gonna happen because of the confusing things that happened tonight. Do you understand?
Liam: Not really.
Stiles: Good, that's good.
Scott: I don't either.
There were some genuinely funny and compassionate moments in "The Benefactor" that could have taken a more serious turn.
As Malia struggled against restraints, Stiles remembered through his history as a pawn to the nogitsune that sometimes you accomplish a lot when you realize you aren't in control of the situation. Releasing Malia and freeing her from the torment of trying to break away stopped her change.
Similarly, when Liam crashed at Scott's feet after Argent tranqed him, he was in a world of hurt about what his behavior might to do his parents. He's a good kid and doesn't ever want them to see him as a destructive monster again.
You're not a monster, you're a werewolf, like me.Scott
Lydia was wrapped up in trying to hear the key to the message buried in her math notes. Ultimately, it was Allison. The nod to her best friend was appreciated. Once entered, the list was revealed and she announced it to be a dead pool of all the supernaturals in Beacon Hills, and they're all on it.
There were no dollar signs next to the numbers on the dead pool, and I know they're essentially a betting instrument that allows people to get paid according to the odds of predicting when someone will die, or, in this case, carrying it out for a specific amount of money. Given the small numbers next to the major players, I can only assume they give higher payouts.
It was pretty frakked up seeing Violet take a wire and beheading a werewolf who was going about his business, resisting change with a mantra so he could fix a flat. The look of glee on her face as her boyfriend received the text that the money had been transferred to hhis account made my stomach turn.
First, I had to wonder why her lame ass boyfriend set his girl out to kill so he could get a payout and second I realized that if the "regular" citizens in Beacon Hills think so little of supernaturals, our heroes are kind of in trouble. Again.
At least one killer is out of the way. After the muted one axed Peter in the chest (and it was laced with wolfsbane), he announced via a voice device that Derek was next. Stilinski and Derek tracked him and were placing him under arrest when a very sexy Peter Hale dashed down the school hallway to pummel the mute and rip his - heart? - out. Whatever was in his hands seemed more stringy than heart-like, but what do I know? Monsters don't necessarily have a lot of heart. Ha.
It was an all around pleasing installment of Teen Wolf Season 4 and felt like comfort food. I've missed these types of episodes and Mr. Argent.
Scott: How did you know?
Argent: I got your text.
Classic. It's great to have everyone back to normal, even if their lives are at stake by an unknown benefactor. Given that the installment bared his name, it's kid of surprising we learned very little about the benefactor. We have yet to even see another appearance of Kate Argent. Maybe she was waiting for her brother to come home.
If you've missed any installments or need to catch up with all the Beacon Hills action, you can watch Teen Wolf online via TV Fanatic.
Do you have any idea who the benefactor is?
On Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 4 a new wolf struggles with what has happened to him and a coyote newly reintroduced to society struggles with managing her change.
Lydia tries to decipher the code in her math notes. Peter is attacked, but lives to kill his attacker.
A very friendly face is back in town just in time for the benefactor to start paying people for slaying supernaturals on the dead pool. Find out all about it when you watch Teen Wolf online!
There's nothing like a new pair of teen assassins to stir up things in Beacon Hills, right?
We saw what not-so-sweet Violet's skills are in the art of beheading last week... so who is next on the kill list for Violet and her blonde partner in crime, Garrett? And what does the deadly wolfsbane have to do with it?
MTV sent TV Fanatic an exclusive clip of what we'll see tonight on Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 5 with these two new killer characters. Check out the sneak peek and look forward to a new episode now:
Teen Wolf Season 4 airs Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.
Lacrosse is really boring after the Nogitsune.
There. I said it. For instance, there's nothing wrong with Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 5, but there's really nothing all that great about it, either.
The stakes were raised so high in Teen Wolf Season 3 that dialing back just doesn't cut it. It's kind of amazing to say that given there is a dead pool out on all of the supernatural beings in Beacon Hills, but I don't think anyone we care about is going to die because we've had too much death already.
Change is good, but in small doses. The Alphas and Nogitsune tore apart Beacon Hills and to throw even more change at us by way of losing another major player would be too risky.
That leaves us with stories like Araya threatening Argent to start hunting again instead of working with his friends and the new teen hunters who have egos too big to suit their brains. We're learning there are a lot more supernatural folks out there, but that's not really all that interesting. We kind of knew that already, given the history lesson we got on Beacon Hills and its name last season.
Derek is losing his powers, which could be why he's taken to tagging along with Stilinski instead of doing much else. It was cute how impressed he was with Scott's parenting skills, though.
Far too much time was taken up during the hour watching Liam try to curb his anger. We got it pretty quickly. Watching him wolf out over and over as he tried to talk himself off of his IED/werewolf created anger ledge was a a time filler, pretty much like the lacrosse game, Liam's broken bone, etc.
Stiles got out a few good one liners, but nothing spectacular. Lydia was trying her damnedest to find the second cipher code and when fellow Banshee Meredith showed up with it, it seemed they should be able to figure out the third pretty quickly now, right? Who else died on Teen Wolf? Boyd, Erica, Jennifer Blake. Plug in a name and see what sticks.
The best news as learning why it might not be so creepy that Deputy Parrish obviously has the hots for Lydia. He's not just an adult making it like a love story on ABC Family, but he's a supernatural himself. He's been drawn to Lydia and knows shes -- as he puts it -- psychic, but what is he?
People were calling him out as supernatural last season and their instincts paid off. Let the guessing game begin!
The Benefactor story is different than I expected. For some reason I thought regular people would be targeted to take down the supernaturals for cash, but it's professional hunters instead. That doesn't really make him all that benefactor-y; it just makes the killers greedy. Unless I'm missing something, taking that innocent human element out of the equation squashes my idea that he was using Hale money to right wrongs they had done to humanity. Eh, maybe not.
It's doubtful Scott killed Violet after she made her embarrassing attempt to kill him (he's a lot tougher than I thought!), so we should get some more information about this benefactor soon. Either way, the previews show that Kate is out there trying to figure out his identity as well.
Make sure you watch Teen Wolf online when you're feeling blue! In the meantime, if you're loving where the story is leading, maybe you can sell me on it in the comments.
Are you down with the benefactor plot?
Only by watching Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 5 will you learn who the latest supernatural in Beacon Hills is and where he's been hiding.
What else is Derek losing other than the color of his eyes? It's not just memories from his past.
There are a lot of lacrosse scenes and a lot of anger management training to be had in the latest installment of this wolf-laden series, and so much more!
Want to know what hunter is threatened to rejoin the herd? Then watch Teen Wolf online right now!
It wouldn’t be San Diego Comic Con without the guys from Teen Wolf.
The MTV werewolf drama is always one of the top draws at the annual convention - and since the show is actually airing right now, it was a good time to sit down with stars Tyler Posey (Scott) and Tyler Hoechlin (Derek) to chat about how they feel regarding Teen Wolf Season 4.
What will Derek do now that he’s losing his powers? How Scott has changed over the years? What about those tattoos? And, because this is the kind of thing that comes up when getting the guys together, what the heck is the deal with... wolf boners?
TV Fanatic: Is Comic Con the same thing for you guys compared to when you first started coming?
Tyler Hoechlin: Our little group has grown a lot every single year I feel like. I know they put us in the big hall last time and it was packed. It will be interesting to see but for us it just gets easier, which is nice. We’re used to it by now.
Tyler Posey: Hoechlin is right. We’re absolutely used to it, there are no surprises anymore and it becomes this relaxing, vacation-esque and doing stuff like this, just hanging out. I love Comic Con! I’m happy I’m here!
TVF: I was watching this last week’s episode and realized that even though we’re still in high school, the characters have grown and changed so much. Do you guys feel that?
TP: I feel like it’s impossible for our characters not to grow, which is the comfortableness of how we are and how we play them. There’s more confidence with our characters. Scott has matured as the years have gone on.
TVF: They’re even dressing Scott differently now with the buttoned up shirts more often.
TP: He’s dressing like a man. He’s got boots. He’s got a motorcycle now. He knows how to talk to girls now instead of fumbling over his words but he’s still 17, though. I relate it to myself and anyone who’s been in the business since they were kids. They go through things that normal kids don’t go through and it kind of ages them a little bit. All the kids from Beacon Hills have done that. They’ve gone through things no kid could go through and it does age them but at the same they’re 17 so they still have the kid-tendencies.
TH: The characters have definitely grown up a lot but as far as the show we’ve noticed internationally just that it’s expanded so much. We’ve gone over there to meet the fans and the overwhelming sense of enthusiasm for the show is crazy but it’s awesome and flattering. It’s great that it’s reaching over there as well as here. The scope of the show and the world of the show have gotten bigger like going to Japan in Season 3 and Season 4 ending up in Mexico. It’s been crazy to watch it expand so much.
TVF: It was just revealed that Derek is losing his powers. What can you tease about where it’s going?
TH: For Derek it’s a huge question. He obviously knows that Kate is responsible for that so his biggest concern right now is finding her and not necessarily for the same reasons that Peter wants to find her or anyone else wants to find her. He has a personal thing with her and needs her to fix or change what he’s going through. It will be interesting to see how he feels about this as his powers start to dwindle. It’s going to be a challenge for him. Hopefully, Braeden will be there to help him out a little bit…
TP: Speaking of Braeden, does losing his powers mean he can’t get a wolf boner anymore? [laughter ensues]
TH: This is why I love interviews with Posey. But we’ll have to see.
TP: I don’t think we’ll have to see. I think will always be able to get it up no matter how many powers he loses.
TH: That’s the true confidence that Scott has in Derek.
TVF: How were you challenged differently as we see Derek in a place we haven’t seen him before?
TH: It was really interesting playing Derek this year. I think I felt more different as Derek on set this season than any other season because this is such a massive thing. And I related it to my baseball thing and really growing up baseball was my identity. I was acting, I enjoyed acting and I loved it but my identity from my first memory was playing baseball so that’s who I was grounded as. It’s incredible how an activity or occupation can give you a sense of self and when that’s gone, there’s that weird little thing you go through of ‘well, who am I now?’ That’s Derek’s biggest thing, it’s ‘if I’m not a werewolf, who am I? What do I do?’
TVF: Does Peter help at all or is he doing his own thing?
TH: He’s still not trustworthy. He hasn’t earned his place yet.
TVF: He’s kind of a dick.
TH: Yeah, he is. [laughs] It’s like we say in the episode, nobody likes him but he’s still a necessary evil to have around. He does provide knowledge at times that is very essential and he’s still a force we feel we can manipulate for our advantage when we need it so we’ll keep him around for now.
TVF: Posey, tell me about Scot and Kira. They’re so sweet together!
TP: They’re very sweet and I think it’s very cool because it’s a different side of Scott that you haven’t seen. You’ve definitely seen Scott in love but he’s got so much more confidence with this love. I think he can relate more to Kira than he did with Allison. Scott and Allison had this insane connection that could never be tested or broken but he and Kira have so much in common with them being the outcasts at school, the powers, the camaraderie, the sense of wanting to stick together, they’re just perfect for each other. And now she’s on the lacrosse team and so they have a romantic relationship but a team relationship. I love them together. They care about each other and want to protect each other.
TH: I liked it in the beginning of the show when it was Scott and Allison and Allison was how Scott is now where Scott found his strength in Allison and Kira is now finding her strength in Scott. It’s an interesting development in Scott’s character that he can now be the anchor now in the relationship. It’s a cool evolution.
TP: That is cool. You’re giving me chills, man!
TVF: Also in this last episode, you two share a scene about Liam and it’s a nice triangle in how Derek is seeing Scott take charge of a new wolf. You can see that Derek is happy that Scott is doing his job. Is there more of that kind of scene coming?
TH: I remember that scene sticking out to me a lot as one of the apexes of that relationship with them and I thoroughly enjoyed that scene. I thought it was really fun and it was a weird life imitating art and art imitating life kind of thing. I remember seeing him do that it was interesting because [Posey] is the same age, 22, as I was when we did the first season. So seeing him have that scene with Liam, I seriously had a flashback to when we had that same kind of scene. I thought ‘this is so weird. I am watching real life and the characters at the same time.’ It was a really trippy experience.
TVF: In these next episodes, is Scott’s journey about Liam and keeping him on track?
TP: There’s a bunch of things in play with the assassins and that’s Scott’s main focus. Liam is definitely a huge part of his life now and he’ll spend the rest of the season trying to teach him control but he also has to save his town and save his best friends again so he can’t quit. He has no time to rest or do anything. What’s the saying? Idle hands are the devil’s playground.
TVF: You have some new tattoos, Posey.
TP: [he happily shows some of the new ones on his leg] I like tattoos a lot.
TVF: And you don’t have any, right?
TH: I don’t have any.
TVF: Not interested?
TH: Not that I’m not interested but I have ideas of things that I would do but just nothing that I was like ‘yeah, I have to get it done.’ I think it would have to be something like you have to have it in order to do it. Maybe someday I’ll get the itch and I’ll do it.
TP: I think for me the reason why I love tattoos so much is because was when I was a kid most of my influences were covered in tattoos and it’s the same for you. For me, it’s just kind of dictated my life, not tattoos but that scene, the style. it’s how I live. [laughs] You just don’t have the itch for it but I’m itching every day!
Teen Wolf airs Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.
UPDATE: MTV has confirmed Teen Wolf Season 5!
MTV confirmed today that Teen Wolf will be taking a bite out of viewers well into 2015:
The series has been renewed for a 20-episode fifth season.
The announcement was made during the show’s Comic-Con panel this afternoon, as thousands of fans cheered on Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig and Dylan Sprayberry.
Creator Jeff Davis also announced during the panel that Sprayberry (Liam) will also be a full time series regular in the fifth season.
Look for fresh installments to air next summer, but there's plenty more of Teen Wolf Season 4 to go until then.
We just spoke exclusively to Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin, gathering up scoop about what fans can expect from Scott and Derek as the summer moves along.
MTV has unveiled a new promo for Teen Wolf Season 4.
And things don't bode well for... anyone?
The footage, originally screened at the show’s Comic-Con panel, featured Derek descending into darkness, along with serious explosions at the hospital and a wolfed-out Peter who yearns to end Scott once and for all.
But Scott and Kira also kiss! And Derek goes shirtless.
So ALL hope isn't lost...
The network also 20 episodes of Teen Wolf Season 5 that will premiere in 2015.
Sure, we talked Teen Wolf with stars Tyler Posey and Tyler Hoechlin at the start of Comic Con.
But the show is epic enough that we also made sure we had a spot in the press room to gather up some more scoop for you TV Fanatics out there.
As you'll see in these videos, Posey and Hoechlin gave us more insight into upcoming Teen Wolf Season 4 episodes, while we also grabbed time with Dylan O'Brien, Holland Roden, new cast member Dylan Sprayberry, Shelley Hennig and Argent himself, JR Bourne. Let's do this...
Tyler Posey on Scott's journey this season.
Dylan O'Brien talked whether Dylan Sprayberry is getting hazed as the newbie on the show.
How will Derek losing his powers affect upcoming episodes? Tyler Hoechlin gave us the scoop.
Will Lydia embrace being a banshee once she understands it more? Holland Roden explained it all to us.
Dylan Sprayberry may be the newest cast member, but he's loving his new role as Liam.
Shelley Hennig is being praised for her comedic chops. She told us where it all comes from.
Which side of things is Argent playing in the coming episodes? JR Bourne teased what we'll see.
Watch the midseason trailer here. Teen Wolf airs Mondays at 10/9c on MTV.
The body count was rising on Teen Wolf, but it may have met its end.
If Alpha Scott has anything to say about it, Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 6 will hold the last supernatural death. That's great news for Derek fans, as Lydia discovered his name was the final cipher, marking him for death.
We saw a lot of the scenes from the initial Teen Wolf Season 4 trailer, including Derek stumbling upon a horde of dead bodies as well as his great quote about Stiles:
Malia: Maybe we need to do something different. Maybe we need to think like Stiles.
Derek: Like a hyperactive spaz?
Malia: Like a detective.
That's right, Derek, other people think Stiles has mad skills and his girls Malia and Lydia have faith in him. Given that it's your name cracking dead pool ciphers, I suggest you give him some respect!
Garrett and Violet have met their end thanks to Kate and the Beskerkers and we're really no closer to the discovery of the identity of The Benefactor other than the clue that he/she uses cassette tapes as a method of communication.
The voice on the cassette that Kate listened to didn't give away anything that I could tell, but doesn't someone who used cassettes have to either be really old (Gerard?) or maybe someone who has been dead or otherwise interred while the digital age has come into existence?
I mean, wouldn't you use a flash drive in that bag? Cassettes have to mean something to this story, right?
We had some interesting pairings this week. Kira was absent from the action while Lydia and Stiles worked together to find the cipher, Scott stuck around Argent and his big guns and Malia partnered up with Derek because of her knowledge of the woods around Beacon Hills.
My favorite Maliaism this week was when the teacher sarcastically asked her if she needed to excuse herself from class. Uh, yeah. Her lack of social skills is just so much fun.
Learning control while in "were" form is definitely an individual problem. Kate is doing whatever she can to try to learn control, but who she was as a human seems to be bleeding over into her supernatural life. It was really difficult for Liam to control himself as a human, but his desires to be different have lent themselves to his wolf form very well.
The poor kid was stuck in his own version of The Ring at the bottom of that well with little hope of survival, but he put all of his effort into climbing to the top while poisoned to howl for his Alpha. Scott, being the good daddy he is, was at his side immediately. Their Alpha/Beta relationship is really enjoyable.
Peter is still after power. It's all he has ever wanted and now that Kate has something he wants and she needs to learn from a mentor wolf, they're teaming up. Of course, I always hope that Peter gets his head out of his ass and realizes he's not the monster he portrays, but maybe this time will be different. Maybe we'll lose him on the side of fun for good.
The biggest surprise of the week, for me anyway, was that Parrish had no idea why he was on the dead pool.
Parrish: What's the number?
Stiles: That's how much your worth.
Parrish: I'm worth five dollars?
Stiles: Five million.
Parrish: But I make $40,000 a year. Maybe I should kill myself. I don't get it. Why am I on it?
First of all, that was an adorable reaction, and second, he seemed genuinely surprised that he was on it. Could we have all guessed he's a supernatural before he even tapped his own understanding of what or who he is? If he really doesn't know what he is then it must be a latent ability. What are your thoughts on that?
I'm still worried about Derek and I should be, if the trailer for the rest of the season that was recently revealed has anything to say about it. What's going to be pushing the humanity out of Scott? There are a lot of unanswered questions and it's making for a very nice season all around. Get another glimpse at the trailer, take the poll and hit the comments!
Which death surprised you the most?
Don't forget, if you want to see more of the dearly departed, you can watch Teen Wolf online via TV Fanatic any time!
Scott makes a pledge that he won't let any more supernaturals die on Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 6, but that's after the body count rises quite a bit.
Parrish finds out his name is on the dead pool. If you want to know his reaction, you'll need to tune in.
Malia and Stiles find the last cipher -- it's the name of someone who will die and not who is already dead? Who is it?
Does Kate ever make an exception when it comes to the Beserkers killing her enemies? You know what? You just need to take an hour and watch Teen Wolf online to find out what goes down. You won't regret it!

Was this a riveting installment of Teen Wolf?
Reactions on Twitter to Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 7 ranged from fear for the pack due to the contagion they were exposed to all the way to tears at the Malia and Stiles moment when she learned her last name.
I'm not really sure what I think of the whole thing, to be honest. I guess the point was to let Malia in on her heritage.
It didn't feel all that perilous. Yes, Reed died, but who's gonna miss him? I never really thought anybody else was in that much danger, just that they were scared.
Despite the many Malia haters, she still makes for some of the best moments each week. That fish out of water type behavior is always fun, and she had more than one of those this week. First, as they were waiting in line to take the PSATs we had this Teen Wolf quote:
Scott: Malia, you studied harder for this than any of us.
Malia: It doesn't mean I'm gonna do good.
Malia: Well what?
Stiles: It's do well, not good.
Malia: Oh God!
And later, when she tried to get everyone to tell her what they were hiding from her, genuinely putting the group on edge thinking she had figured out who her father was, she was really only talking about being on the list:
Malia: How much am I worth?
Scott: $4 million.
Stiles: Are you OK?
Malia: Yeah. Scott's worth 25, Kira's 6; they'll take you guys out way before me.
Stiles: It's progress, it's progress.
We learned Coach has been sober for 15 years, which is nice to know. Lydia's mom was helping with the PSATs, even though Lydia herself took them long ago and Melissa has become the go-to mom for the supernatural crowd. It's probably one of my favorite things, knowing that the parents are aware of what the kids are exposed to all the time and there are no more secrets there.
Seeing Daddy McCall save Stiles was pretty kick-ass. They're all in on the action now and it makes for a much tighter knit story. Instead of hiding from them all the time, all the kids can turn to their parents when they really need them. That makes their relationships stronger all around. I like it. I think only Natalie is unaware of Lydia's business at this point.
Speaking of Lydia, she reached out to the spirit of Meredith via the groovy record room and found a photo of Meredith in that very room. What does that mean? There must be more to Meredith's story than we're aware. I hope we find out a bit more about her story, even is she is gone.
We knew it was coming, but Derek is no longer hiding the way he's taken with Braeden. He's using the excuse that he has money invested in her finding Kate and the Benefactor, but it looks like he's getting a new girlfriend to me!
After being temporarily blinded by the illness, Malia saw her name on the dead pool list as Malia Hale. When Stiles attempted to comfort her, she wasn't having it. Considering all that they've been through together, I have faith that they'll mend their rift, but Malia needs to find out more about Peter and what's going on. Maybe she doesn't even know Peter's her father -- just that she's a Hale. It didn't have a family tree, after all.
Since Peter's name isn't on the list, Stiles thinks he could be The Benefactor. We know he's reached out to Kate to try to figure things out, so I don't think it's Peter, but that symbol does point a bit more toward Gerard or someone in the Argent family.
On Wolf Watch the DJ tossed out his thoughts -- it's Allison. I guess anything could happen, but that seems a stretch.
I kinda missed Liam this week and would have liked to see him with his anger issues be faced with something traumatic. Instead we got Satomi (Thanks chrisjozo and Mauib!) who went all Matrix on some bullets to save Derek. It's good to see her doing so well since Oak Creek, actually. She's come a long way, baby!

How will Malia react to the news of being a Hale?
On Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 7, a deadly virus that kills supernaturals is released in Beacon Hills High School. At least one person dies. Who will it be?
Malia makes a shocking discovery and it's one that may drive her away from her new friends.
One name is missing from the dead pool and Stiles starts to wonder if this person may be The Benefactor.
Satomi returns to help Dr. Deaton with the mystery illness and has some kick ass skills to share with the audience. Think big action movies. What does she do?
You can find out about all of this and more when you watch Teen Wolf online!
So... what went down after the Hale house burned that could have lead to all this Benefactor business?
Honestly, Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 8 was very convoluted, so I did a little recon. Whoever the Benefactor is (an individual or a group) will somehow relate to what happened in the wake of the Hale tragedy.
It's times like these that I wish I watched series over and over and over, because I don't remember a lot about Teen Wolf Season 1, and we're gonna be hearkening back to that, as well. Sheesh!
The plan to "kill" Scott to find the Benefactor was very cool, even more so because everyone was in on it that needed to be.
I still hate this plan. I mean this is pretty significantly terrifying. He looks dead.Melissa
Up until that minute, I thought (I'm sorry!) that they didn't tell Melissa so she would be as credible as the plan required. Mama McCall does a great job pretending her son is dead. I guess she's had enough practice worrying about him by now!
While Scott was "dead" his psyche contemplated the differences between being a killer and a predator and with the help of The Mute ended his journey pick axing Liam to death. The conversation with his dad proved how heavily killing is weighing on his mind, but I don't think he's in danger of becoming what the dream showed. If anything, it gave him the knowledge that he wouldn't do it without a nefarious prod.
There were great scenes throughout. Stiles acting the adult as the "kids" ran off into the halls of the hospital, great Stalia action as Stiles recalled how Malia started spooning him in bed, Braeden teaching Derek how to fight as a human, Stiles and Argent arguing over how to address the Benefactor, and some bonding moments between Melissa and Noshiko.
I still have no idea who the Benefactor is, but apparently Lydia's grandmother (who may not be dead) created the code for the dead pool. Why? No idea. Lydia's whole cabin is created out of mountain ash, and spreading her "grandmother" (more mountain ash) in the water completed an ash circle of protection.
Did I miss how Lydia's grandmother knew Meredith? Yes, she was in Eichen House with her, but why did she have a photo of her and why was Natalie immediately familiar with her? How involved is Lydia's family? Is a banshee the Benefactor, or is the Benefactor just working with a banshee, and is that banshee Lydia's grandmother? Why would she protect her house with Lydia spreading her ashes and why would Lydia's name be on the list?
Malia met with Peter, who still wants to know who her mother is; The Desert Rose, apparently. Since he and Kate met at the end and he was happy Scott was still alive, does that remove him from the Benefactor list? I'm wondering if he's worried if Scott dies the remainder of his cash will be given away before he can get it back.
I'm really eager to find out what you all got from the episode and your theories. You can watch Teen Wolf online for more info.
Is a banshee the Benefactor, or is the Benefactor just working with one?
On Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 8 the search for the identity of the Benefactor takes a dramatic turn when Scott is killed for a period of time with the hopes of drawing the Benefactor out for visual confirmation.
Melissa and Noshiko work with their kids, even though they worry about what they're asking of them.
Peter and Malia find a moment to bond over adoption papers, and it goes much better than anticipated.
Lydia's grandmother may be the key to everything, but understanding what that is will take a little more time. To find out everything that went down, watch Teen Wolf online now!
That's really the best I can muster from the reveal of the Benefactor on Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 9. So Meredith is the Benefactor because...Lydia's grandmother Lorraine drove her extra insane? Or was she already more "off" than Lorraine knew when she started testing her?
I'm sure you'll all point out exactly where I'm wrong and misunderstanding something, so feel free to pop in any time.
I'm all for cool reveals, but Meredith is really so limited in scope (as far as we know). I was expecting more. The best thing to say about her is how we were all kind of rooting for Meredith, sad that she died and she turns out to be the bitch killing everyone.
Lydia and Stiles working together again like old times was great to see. He even dug deep enough to get Lydia to realize the cipher to the code Lorraine left for her: Ariel.
Stiles: OK! What did you read?
Lydia: The Little Mermaid.
Stiles: You read that movie?
Lydia: It was a BOOK first. Hans Christian Anderson?
The whole thing about the Benefactor just feels difficult to swallow. I'm sure they'll wrap it all up nicely. Then again, they may leave it kind of oddly, like the Alphas storyline that was wrapped up way too fast considering the enormity of it all.
There was an interesting end to Eichen House's Brunski, who was being controlled by Meredith to do his bidding, thus the 10 recent suicides at the facility. Was that a tear that streamed down the side of his face just before he died? I kind of hope not because that would mean he might have had a heart before Meredith took control. Awwww.
I think we know why Derek's name is no longer on the list and why he was a cipher. While he didn't die, the supernatural side of him seems to have done so. That must be good enough for Meredith. By the same token, Liam's clout went up because he survived the Berserkers. Surely Kira's moved up a notch, as well.
The best part of the night was with Parrish. We open on him stuck in a sheriff's vehicle with gasoline tossed on him by fellow deputy Hank, trying to score some case from the pool. Parrish went up like a Christmas tree.
Parrish: Just tell me one thing. Are all of you like Lydia? Are you all psychic?
Scott: Not exactly.
Parrish: OK then, what are you?
[Scott replies with blazing red eyes.]
It's great that he still doesn't know what kind of supernatural he is and that the others can't either. I can't take any credit, but DJ Cole Plante from the Teen Wolf After Show decided he figured it out and it not only makes sense, it made Jeff Davis bristle uncomfortably.
With the whole new opening sequence and rising from the ashes and Parrish strolling naked, covered in ashy residue, back into the Sheriff station to punch the life out of Hank, Plante suggests a Phoenix. How perfect is that? Whether Parrish can only survive fire or if he can survive any death, we'll have to find out. The legend of the Phoenix is imperfect. Many times it's just flames and other times they decompose and come back to life.
Come to think of it, Meredith was a bit of a Phoenix, too, since she rose back up from what we thought were ashes. I think we have a title, folks!
Do you think the gang will tell Peter who the Benefactor is so he can try to get his money back? Or even help in some way? How does Kate fit into any of this? How do you see the rest of this story playing out? Share your thoughts in the comments.

The Benefactor is revealed in a true WTF moment. What will come next? Who knows?
What we know for sure is you won't be able to follow along until you watch Teen Wolf online to catch up!
What the hell? Does anybody know what just happened?
On Teen Wolf Season 4 Episode 10 we learned that Meredith created the dead pool because when she was in the hospital, sharing a room with a burned, comatose Peter Hale, she heard his thoughts and those thoughts included creating a dead pool.
Seriously, it seemed like Teen Wolf had lost its way during the "alphas" storyline, but this is ridiculous.
After the entirety of what happened, whatever it was seems to be following the "plan" of Peter and Kate. Peter just wants to be Alpha again and kill the True Alpha, Scott McCall. I've always thought Peter was badass. If he needed to glom onto this 70s clusterfrak to do the job, he doesn't deserve to be Alpha.
All I have are questions. There were no good quotes, no AHA moments and more WTF than any series needs to plant in an hour before one of their biggest events of the year.
Someone, sometime planted a circa 1970s computer in Lydia's grandma's wall. Considering that yanking the cord released the drywall and there wasn't a door leading in, we can assume it's just been buzzing away for the past 40 years. Alrighty. Those whirly things? There's no way they never needed maintenance.
Were they giving off all the messages to the Banshees? Is it kind of quiet now that the key has been turned? How did a circa 70s computer know, decades later, that there would be smart phones with which it could communicate and gather the troops to kill all the supernaturals?
Why did Meredith enact the dead pool? Because Peter is the alpha and has always been the alpha? Was that part of what she heard from his rants? If she got that monsters do bad things, then why didn't she get that Peter was one of them?
Why did Meredith put her name on the dead pool when she heard Lydia scream Allison's name on the night she died? Why did she know that was the right time to start over? What am I missing? "Oh God. What have I done?" asks Meredith. Exactly. What DID she do?
Malia kicked ass, as usual. Kira was alright. Sorry, one continues to impress me far more than the other. For some reason, Kira always seems just short of scared sh*tless. That's not what I want in a hero. I'm still not sure what Scott sees in her.
I know you're going to want to rip me a new one for not understanding all that was revealed, but I welcome you're ass whopping. If ever there was a night that needed the lame Wolf Watch, this was it. Maybe DJ Cole Plantne would have had something insightful to deliver. I wish I was kidding.
The very best moment of the episode was when Scott was beating one of the assassins and his face changed from vicious werewolf back to Scott McCall. I swear they spent 75% of their special effects budget on that one transformation. It looked fabulous.
That's all I have. What did you get from "Monstrous"?
